災害は忘れたころにやってくるとは寺田寅彦の言葉だが、自らの記憶が薄れることに加え、記憶を次世代に伝えるのはさらに困難だと思う。その点、映像の持つ迫力はいつまでも災害の恐怖を思い出すことに有効といえる。素人が撮影したインドネシア津波の映像は広く公開されてしかるべきだろう。私がインターネットで収集した映像をひとつあげておく。ほかにニュースにとりあげられた画像もあるが公益の観点からも、もっと一般に公開すべきと思う。たしかに、映像の権利を主張するメディアの根拠には異論があるといえる。
