三浦梅園（1723年～1789年）は、自分より11歳年下の綾部剛立が宝暦13年（1763年）の日食を予言して的中させたとき、門人たちと朝早く起きて観察し、確認したことを、書簡で伝え「足下の術は一家の説をなした」と激賞した。（金子務「江戸人物科学史」）
今日の皆既月食を見て、はじめて予言が的中したときの興奮がしのばれる。
